For over 100 years, we have been dumping billions of tonnes of poisonous gases, chemicals, heavy metals and other industrial waste into our environment every year.
Now the air we breathe, our water, our food, our homes and even the personal and cosmetic products we use are contaminated with chemicals, hormones, pesticides, herbicides and industrial pollutants.
While many developed nations are implementing changes, emerging nations like China and India are now becoming our biggest problem. With massive populations and cheap labour, the world is outsourcing it’s manufacturing to these countries and they are building factories at an unbelievable rate with little regard to safe environmental practice.
Our environment now abounds in “Free Radicals”. These are atoms and molecules with unpaired electrons. They attack our cell membranes and once inside, they attack our DNA. Free radicals are usually checked or destroyed by natural antioxidants, but as you age or exposure to pollutants increases your antioxidant network can’t cope, free radicals get through to your DNA and cells mutate, causing cancer and the creation of tumours.
Pollution is affecting every aspect of our lives and no age group is exempt. A recent scientific study carried out by the Environmental Working Group in the USA measured an average of 200 different forms of toxins and pollutants in the umbilical cords of babies shortly after their birth. In fact a total of 287 toxic substances were detected and;
180 are known to cause cancer in humans.
217 are toxic to the brain.
208 cause birth defects and abnormal tissue development.
None of their parents worked with chemicals or lived near industrial facilities.
These were just toxins accumulated from living in western society.
Even at a young age, many children now have significant levels of toxic substances within their bodies.
Long before the first visible signs of aging begin to appear, your biological systems have already started to age. From the day you are born, your cells and organs are exposed to environmental pollutants, toxins and Chemicals. These substances accumulate in your body and wreak havoc on your cells, organs and systems, contributing to illness and disrupting your body’s ability to absorb nutrients.
Your body stops producing the key hormones that keep you looking and feeling younger. You experience a slower metabolism, weight gain, weakened bones, stiffer joints and compromised cardiovascular and immune systems. When combined with a poor diet, lack of fresh air and exercise this can lead to a number of illnesses and disease such as Diabetes and Cardio-Vascular Disease.
Medical Science has stated that the prime contributing factor to around 75% of all known disease and illness in man can be summed up in just one word - Toxicity.
Diabetes, Cardio Vascular disease, Cancer, Lupus, MS, Parkinson's, ADD, Alzheimer's and dozens of other illnesses and diseases can all be “prevented” , yet our health care system is still focussed on “Treatment”.
Our immune and other bodily systems are now under more stress than ever before due to the effects of pollution and modern living. But for every $10 we spend on treatment, only $1 is currently spent on prevention.
Body Pollution
This video, as reported by Tom Brocau on the NBC nightly news, talks about the many toxins our bodies absorb from everyday products. In a study of the toxins found in the human body one lady had 95 chemical contaminants she had received from everyday products. Of these 53 cause cancer, 62 are toxic to the brain/nervous system and 55 can cause birth defects.
